Medical Nutrition Therapy
I provide personalized counseling specifically designed to help you manage or prevent chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disorders. Through a comprehensive nutrition assessment, I translate nutritional science into a plan tailored to your specific medical goals. I implement evidence-based nutrition interventions and use follow-up sessions to monitor your progress in meeting the nutritional requirements necessary to combat these conditions
Weight Management
In my weight management sessions, I focus on how healthy eating behaviors can resolve chronic weight and body concerns. Because I believe your plan should not be a “one-size-fits-all” approach, I prioritize your unique food preferences and lifestyle when designing interventions. Together, we work as a team to build essential skills—learning how to cook, shop, and eat in the best way to solve your specific nutritional concerns and maintain long-term health.
General Wellness
I offer personalized nutrition guidance aimed at achieving optimal health and preventing future illness. By conducting a thorough assessment, I help you set achievable goals that align with your medical needs. I will teach you how to use balanced nutrition and whole foods to boost your energy and reduce stress levels. During our follow-up sessions, we focus on building healthy habits in areas like food selection and menu planning to ensure your lifestyle supports your long-term wellness.
Combination for Success
Most often, I integrate medical nutrition therapy, weight management, and general wellness to empower you to create lasting lifestyle habits. By focusing on healthy eating as a primary tool, I can help you:
- Achieve a healthy weight or provide weight control guidance for adolescents and adults.
- Lower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, lower the risk for osteoporosis, and manage various gut disorders, such as IBS, Celiac disease, gastritis, GERD, and diverticulosis.
- Improve diabetes control and address the nutritional implications of PCOS.
- Establish sustainable methods for healthy food shopping, cooking and dining out.
How Nutrition Counseling Works:
Initial Consultation
When you meet with me for an initial consultation, our session will last for 75 minutes. Before we get started, I will send you a link to my nutrition questionnaire and ask that you complete it, along with providing a 3-day food journal. During this first meeting, I provide nutrition counseling tailored specifically to your unique concerns and goals. To support your journey, I will give you a customized binder filled with personalized tips, educational handouts, and meal plans designed for your current needs. Together, we will determine realistic, short-term, and attainable goals to help you achieve wellness.
Follow-Up Sessions
Our follow-up sessions generally last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on what you need. During these appointments, I will check in on your progress toward the goals we set previously. I will provide further nutrition education and, when appropriate, we will create new goals to ensure you continue making progress toward improved nutritional wellness.
